I wrote sparrows for The Evergreen Club Gamelan. The opening is actually five notes to the beat but phrased in four. Paul Houle aced it through the work which is based on overlapping polyrhythms. Blair Mackay’s tasty drumming along with the percussive expertise of Mark Duggan, Graham Hargrove, Bill Parsons and Ryan Scott. Andrew Timar’s suling playing adds the colour that brings the whole piece together.
